〈아파트 산 (APT Mountains)〉은 한국 도시 풍경의 핵심이자 상징처럼 여겨지는 아파트를 주제로 한 작업이다.
반복되고 밀집된 아파트의 형상은 종종 획일적이고 부정적으로 인식되지만, 나는 그 구조 속에서 오히려 한국적인 조형성과 리듬감을 발견하였다.
수평과 수직의 빽빽한 격자, 무심한 듯 단순한 외형, 그리고 그 사이로 비치는 산의 윤곽은 한국 도시에만 존재하는 특유의 시각적 언어이자, 무심한 아름다움이다.
도시를 구성하는 이 ‘산’들은 무질서한 듯 정돈되어 있고, 빼곡하지만 묘하게 여백이 있다.
〈아파트 산〉은 이 낯익은 풍경을 이방인의 시선으로 다시 바라보며, 우리가 쉽게 지나쳐온 도시의 장면들을 새롭게 조명하고자 한다.

<APT Mountains> is a work that takes as its subject the apartment buildings, regarded as both the core and the symbol of Korea’s urban landscape.
The repetitive and densely clustered forms of apartments are often perceived as monotonous and negative. Yet within these structures, I discovered a distinctly Korean sense of form and rhythm.
The tight grid of horizontals and verticals, the seemingly indifferent simplicity of the facades, and the outlines of mountains glimpsed between them create a unique visual language found only in Korean cities, an understated beauty.
These “mountains” that shape the city appear disorderly yet orderly, crowded yet curiously spacious.
<APT Mountains> seeks to reframe this familiar landscape through the eyes of an outsider, shedding new light on the urban scenes we too easily overlook.
